Public Meeting Thurs. July 16

Public meeting for Old Library Proposal to be held Thursday by Travis Hyde / HOLT

On Thursday, July 16, HOLT Architects and Travis Hyde (TH) will host a public meeting to review the DeWitt House proposal to redevelop the old library site in downtown Ithaca. To learn more about the TH proposal and ask questions of the development team, the public is invited to join TH and HOLT representatives at Center Ithaca from 5 to 6pm. Light refreshments will be served.

The meeting will include a presentation by HOLT architects about the plans for 60 units of mid-range age-restricted housing. Some may be designated as affordable. Immediately following the presentation will be a question and answer period.

“We want to respond to requests for more information and input, and provide an opportunity for the public and neighbors of the project to hear about some of the community based and sustainable features in the design for the DeWitt House project that we have not been able to convey to date” said Frost Travis, Travis Hyde Properties.

“We feel that HOLT has created a design for the old library site that makes the most sense for the Ithaca community. We want to make sure that the public has the information they need and understands the environmental and community benefits of this prominent downtown project” said Graham Gillespie, President, HOLT Architects.

Since 1977, Travis Hyde (formerly Ithaca Rentals and Renovations) has developed several properties in Ithaca including the Gateway LEED building and restoration project, Center Ithaca, and is currently repurposing the Carey Building on East State Street in downtown.

As industry professionals in planning and design, HOLT has been operating in Ithaca for over 50 years. HOLT Architects offers services from architecture and master planning to interior design. They incorporate earth-friendly building practices into their work with a focus on planning and designing for the higher education, healthcare, and our local communities.

The decision for the old library development will be made between two projects and will take place on Tuesday, July 21st at the meeting of the Tompkins County Legislature.
